If you’re scouting bars or restaurants to go based on their deals and happy hours, it can be hard to find what you’re looking for. The information you’re looking for gets buried in the mess of the internet. Here are some tricks to quickly finding information on deals from bars you’re interested in.
1: Home Website
If you’re scouting bars or restaurants to go based on their deals and happy hours, it can be hard to find what you’re looking for. The information you’re looking for gets buried in the mess of the internet. Here are some tricks to quickly finding information on deals from bars you’re interested in.
2: Hidden Web Page
If you can’t find it from navigating their website, it may still be there. Try to Google search the name of the bar followed by “specials”, “deals” or “happy hour” (each of these searches yields different results so it’s helpful to try all three). Very often they will have a web page outlining their deals in detail, but for some reason there’s no navigation to it from their home website. You can only get to it directly, so searching any of the above will show you the link to it. This is by far the most common way to find deals that aren’t well advertised. At Bartopia we have found dozens of deals we didn’t think existed with this method.
3: Social Media
You’d think every business would put their specials on their website, but it’s often overlooked. A failsafe is their social media, specifically their Facebook. Look around the home page of their account, their deals are often right under “Intro” or in one of the recent posts. If not, click on the “About” page, they often list their specials below their hours of operation. On Instagram, sometimes deals are listed in their bio, or in highlighted stories right below.
4: Blogs
There are many, many blogs out there about all different aspects of bars and restaurants. A surprising amount of these talk about their specials and happy hours. Using the same search from Method 2, you can often find blogs with titles about the top 10 bars or happy hours for different categories. These writers typically went to these bars themselves so the information is usually accurate and saves you the trouble. Just be careful about when it was written, deals can often change leaving the article outdated.
5: Image Search
For this method, again try the same search from Method 2, but look at image results instead of website results (click “Images”). Oftentimes other guests will post pictures of the menu or specials cards when they dined there on a variety of different websites. Searching by images skips the work of going through each of these websites and allows you to skim the most relevant image results. This isn’t a guaranteed method and often yields outdated results, but it’s worked for us before when all else failed.
6: Contact Them
We get it, you just want the info without the hassle. And contacting the business is definitely a hassle. But if you’ve seen the bar list when they have happy hour but not what they offer, this might be the way to go. We’re not saying you have to call them up, but try sending them a direct message on social media. Chances are someone there is in charge of checking it, and a potential customer with a question takes highest priority. It may take them some time to get back to you, but you’ll get your answer with only a few minutes’ effort.
