We Can Help!
If you need any assistance reformatting or tweaking any of your images, please send us an email and we’re happy to do it for you! You can send them in an email or share a folder in a Google Drive folder, and we’ll upload them for you once we’ve edited the dimensions!
Disclaimer for all Images
An important thing to know before you start uploading images to your page is the file size matters. Bartopia’s website can only process image files that are below about 500kb. There are some exceptions to this but for the most part you will get an error message if the file is above that threshold.
The easiest way to keep your file sizes down while preserving quality is to convert them to .webp format. This is a new format created by Google that has improved compression so you can upload smaller files with higher quality images. We’re more than happy to do this for you, or you can visit a site called CloudConvert.com which is free to convert file formats (we use it too).
We apologize for the inconvenience of not being able to process larger file sizes. As we grow as a company we will be upgrading our ability to handle larger files and the highest quality images for your brand. If you are having any trouble please reach out to us, we are more than happy to upload your images for you because we want your profile to look the best it can!
Banner Images on Page
These are images that will be displayed at the top of your business’s page above the name and logo. Users will be able to click to look at all images of your establishment, so we recommend using this area to highlight a few images that showcase your brand.
The space for banner images on your bar’s page has the ratio of 2.88:1*. So you can customize the space with 1, 2 or 3 images to display. The image(s) can be any reasonable size so long as the width to height ratio is as follows:
For 1 image: 2.88x1 (3×1 will work)
For 2 images: 4×3 each
For 3 images: 1×2 each
Here are some example arrangements to show what we mean:
We recommend playing around with different image sizes based on the recommended dimensions to see which yields the highest quality. It will differ based on the image, dimensions and starting size. As always we’re happy to help do this for you!
*Describing ratios as “2.88×1” means that the width of the photo is 2.88 times the height. For example a 3×1 image could be 300px in width and 100px in height, a 1.5×1 image would be 1500px in width and 1000px in height.
Profile Image / Logo
For the profile/logo image of your establishment, it simply needs to be a square 1×1 image.
Your best bet to maintain the highest quality of your logo is to make the size 500 by 500 pixels.
Our advice for your logo image is to remember that it will be made into a circle by our website, so the corners may be cut off in some instances. The best way to avoid this is to make the background or “canvas” of your logo larger, so that all of the important content still fits within the circle. The .png format is also supported so feel free to use logos with transparent backgrounds. Although, we personally think it looks better with a background color to stand out more.
Here is an example of an image we changed to avoid losing corners of their logo:
Nico’s logo is rectangular by nature, which is hard to fit aesthetically into a circle. By expanding the background and making it into a square, it looks much better on the site and doesn’t cut-off any of it.
Cover Images in Search Results
These are the images for your brand that are displayed in search results and highlighted on our home page. We recommend using an image that customers can easily identify you from, or that showcases the aesthetic of your bar/restaurant for those who have never been.
This area is optimized for images that are 372px by 248px, which is what we recommend. However, other sizes will work if they keep the ratio of 3×2, just keep in mind the overall size of the image and that it will be compressed into a smaller space.
Menu Photos
You can upload your establishments menu as an image or pdf within the “Menu” tab within the Dashboard. To see a full walkthrough of this, click here.
The file size limit for menu files is 512mb. This is a massive limit, so if you have a file exceeding this please contact us, we may be able to help with more problems you’re having than just uploading your menu.
